Johnson won the 2007 Masters Tournament, Glover the 2009 US Open at Bethpage Black and Cink the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry all whilst being coached by Pickens. He believes the best way to focus on one shot at a time is to use a thinking process called “The 4 r’s of Golf”. This method has helped produce over 200 victories including 10 PGA Tour wins and addresses the 4 key areas of refocus, routine, react and relax.

Listen to an excerpt from the Golf Inside Circle interview:

Based at Sea Island Dr Morris Pickens has been helping golfers of all ages reach their golfing goals for over 15 years. Success has come in many forms at Divison 1 All-American, PGA Tour and Champions Tour level as players advance their careers by improving their mental skills.

Initial mental game training begins with understanding the player’s emotions, practice habits, thought processes and how they all contribute to their overall play. This leads on defining goals and creating plans in order to achieve them with evaluation of the progress made. There are no “quick fixes or tricks but instead a solid training program to think more effectively on the course.

This sound philosopy results in productive practice and the ability to shoot lower scores. Players that commit to working on their game with hard work and dedication have produced great results.
